This is Nick, Noel's son. We recently acquired the pair from a woman in North Carolina. He is growing out to be a big fellow & his wool is so very soft.
Just some of the crew hanging out on the back porch of the stable.
Ravi, who couldn't care less that I have a new camera. But check out the fly on top of his head.
One of our pretty Shetland gals ready to be shorn.
The first of the day's three buckets of eggs.
A rooster in the breeze. He was not watching me but another rooster across the pasture.
Every so often we get an egg that is just not quite right.
Oliver, our old Coopworth ram, guarding a round bale of hay.
A curious lamb.
A lamb who found a tastier blade of grass on the other side of the fence.
We have over 300 chickens free range throughout the farm. And, in spite of their numbers, I see them each as individual and very attractive birds.
I am thinking I might get used to this camera as the one I use for a quick barnyard picture or two!
I always love your pictures. 300 chickens!! It must feel like an Easter egg hunt every day.
ReplyDeleteWe have several sets of layer boxes. I also have special places I search daily. And the big white dogs have dibs on the ones I don't find ;-)
DeleteLove seeing your photos of the animals and the eggs. I would love the egg hunt too!!!
ReplyDeleteOh and congrats on the new camera!!!!
DeleteThanks. I am quite frugal so it irritated me to have to buy a new camera but I am really pleased with it. All is good. And I love to hunt for pics as I hunt for eggs ;-)
DeleteLovely photos, Deb! Sorry to hear of the problems you had with the Nikon. I only have a Polaroid digital, certainly nothing fancy. I love taking photos, like yourself. Your photos are just delightful. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks,Linda! I hated to have to get a new camera but it was time. And I do enjoy documenting all the silly creatures we have around here. I just need to be more diligent to keep up with the blog but farm chores get in the way.
DeleteHello, Merciful hearts--I love your blog and your sweet spirit regarding your animals. You've not posted for a while--hope it's just too-o-o much busy & not too many problematic situations.
ReplyDeleteNo problems - thanks for checking. We have been so busy with routine farm things & our seasonal farmers' market has started so that is taking a lot of time. We still have one pregnant ewe walking around but lambing is really done for all practical purposes. The steady rains have delayed shearing which has been a hassle as my husband shears for others & has had to schedule & reschedule repeatedly. But we are grateful for the green pastures ;-) I will get back on it shortly. I have a "story" developing right now so perhaps it should be a post.
